The Chairman of Police Service Commission(PSC), Mr. Mike Okiro has said the recruitment of 10,000 policemen into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) would begin in March.
Okiro disclosed this on Friday night during the Acchiever's Award held in his honour by New Telegraph Newspapers in Lagos.
He did not mention the date and places the recruitment would commence; stressing that the lack of enough fund to implement the project had delayed the exercise.
Okiro who was the former Inspector-General of Police noted that the current number of police officers were inadequate to the Nigeria population.
Okiro also noted that while he was I-G, 15,646 men and women were recruited into the Nigeria Police Force and 4,443 officers were promoted same period.
He said he also recruited 82 aircraft engineers and more than 20 pilots and 1,142 disciplinary matters against officers were treated by his administration.
